I am watching UCLA vs. Portland right now. When I was a kid I distinctively remember wanting to go to UCLA for college. Probably 7 or 8 years old, no idea why. Looking back, they went 32-1 in college basketball in the 94-95 season and won the national champions. I would have been about 7 at the time, and probably delving into the wide world of sports for the first time where it mattered. And UCLA happened to be the best team at the time. It’s odd how for several years after that, whenever college or “when I grow up” was brought up, I would always say, “I’m going to UCLA.” Blows my mind.
