Averages of the Point of Grade
From what I can tell of OU, you graduate with the Grade Point Average of the semester prior to your last (because they don’t calculate these things in time to “walk”). I made a goal at high school graduation that I would do everything possible to be the best student I could be in college, partially out of jealousy and contempt for those ranked higher than me in my class. Out of those initial feelings came something far greater, a desire to serve others, be a role model, and help increase the overall stature of the university itself. I am beyond happy to stay today, with new GPAs now calculated, I have broke through. My semester grades were exceptional and enough to raise the cumulative by the .01 I needed to break through the baseline to apparently graduate with the highest honors come time to walk. Of course, if it is to be official (and appear on a post-degree transcript), I’ll have to keep it up this semester. But the hard part was done. I will get that cord on graduation day, a cord that would have meant redemption four years ago. Now, that cord will simply represent my endless desire to be a role model worth looking up to.
